An Immortal Kind of Love

An Immortal Kind of Love cloaks heartbreak in shimmer, spiralling into a reflection on large, small, personal and global endings. Made up of two short works, KID SISTER and DINO, this program is created by Rock Bottom Movement, a Toronto-based company dedicated to blurring the boundaries of theatre, dance and comedy from an anti-patriarchal perspective in the pursuit of refreshingly approachable absurdism.

Mixed Program

A surrealist dance romp that sprays a technicolor jubilee up to the heavens, KID SISTER is inspired by an angelic presence. The sugary, explosive work explores the screaming possibility of a life beyond. It aspires to turn your heart into soft serve at a summer fair through a sincere and sparkling dedication

DINO is a dramatic claw to the heart and a tickle in the brain. Shoving our concerns into a thick, scaly, exterior, this dance is a saturated dive into a mesozoic dreamland while celebrating resilience, winking at doom and floating in mystery. Together, we embrace the inevitability of an end and the mischievous possibilities of the unknown.

Rock Bottom Movement

Rock Bottom Movement is the creative home for choreographer, Alyssa Martin and a team of distinctly comedic dance and theatre artists. The group has become known in Toronto for their playful, anti-patriarchal, tongue-in-cheek approach to the creation of new absurd dance theatre. Initially founded as a busking company in 2012, the group has since grown to share work for stage and film at home and abroad, especially enjoying their experiences creating collaboratively in residencies at numerous art centres throughout the country. Thier works have been received with numerous awards and critical acclaim. In addition to sharing performances, the group also hosts community-based dance classes  for dancers with little to no experience called NONDancer Workshops. Recently the company premiered their biting dance-theatre glam drama, Sex Dalmatian, expanded their work DINO to include 40 emerging artists and look forward to touring their new work KID SISTER to multiple Canadian cities throughout the year. The group imbues all that they do with a sense of fun and mischief, holding their audiences close to their hearts.
