SAGA is drawn from the shared lore of our respective family histories and their ties to the ocean; Sharon’s being of Norse/Highlander descent and my own from a long line of Atlantic fishermen and seafarers who spent their lives on or beside the sea. The central character in SAGA is a narrative vessel embodying glimpses of those who came before her and their irreverent relations with the other world- drifting between her imagined and altered reality – navigating the sea and the stars in an avalanche of fleeting forces and suppositions.

Empty Space | Empty Time with Worlds Within

“Empty Space | Empty Time is an abstract exploration of presence and absence.  Poetically spatial and physically expansive, the dance finds its bearings through the exquisite emotional cycles of the music. Separate and together, one in a unified field.” Yvonne Coutts, Choreographer

Worlds Within

“I think of it sometimes as the soundtrack to a life cycle, beginning from an unending ether (Unending I), emerging into innocence and wonder (From Within), growing into self-awareness (From Above) followed by chaos and upheaval (Tumult), making peace with what is (Fade [Afterglow]), and returning to the infinite (Unending II). I wanted the bookends to feel timeless and to reflect the passing of time from the perspective of nature. By contrast, I wanted the inner sections to have a fast-paced momentum, embodying human subjectivity and impatience”.  Raphael Weinroth-Browne, Composer
