Gillian is a contemporary dancer from Dartmouth/Punamu’kwati’jk, Nova Scotia. A graduate of L’Ecole de Danse Contemporaine de Montréal (EDCM), Gillian spent nearly a decade with O Vertigo Danse (Montreal) as a full company member under the direction of Ginette Laurin, before returning to Nova Scotia where she has since performed works by Serge Bennethan,Marie-Josée Chartier, Sara Coffin, Sharon Moore and Parts+Labour_Danse (Mocean Dance), Vanessa Goodman (Rooted Dance Projects), The Legacy Project (Sally Morgan), Alexis Cormier, and Liliona Quarmyne. She regularly collaborates and performs with Jacinte Armstrong/SINS, Lisa Phinney Langley/PHIN Performing Arts, and Lydia Zimmer/Zimmerdans. She is currently touring with Noli Timere, a collaboration by choreographer Rebecca Lazier and sculptor Janet Echelman. Gillian has been collaborating with choreographer and writer Sharon Moore on SAGA, a self-produced solo creation, since 2021 and is excited to premiere the work in her hometown in December 2025. In addition to her role as a dancer and performer, Gillian frequently works as a Rehearsal Director and Production Manager. Gillian is a member of CADA/East, an Artist-in-Residence at Halifax Dance, a Diane Moore Creation Award recipient, and a founding member of the Home Ex Artist Collective.

“Gillian is quick silver in mind, body and heart and is a gift to be given in a process. As a mover she is nuanced and a risk-taker. A delight to collaborate with, always lending extraordinary depth to the work at hand.”
